2013 IPI Positional Rankings: The Third Basemen
Today we continue our 2013 prospect coverage here at the IPI with another positional rankings piece on the Cleveland Indians farm system. This time we will review the third basemen.
Third base is a position where the Indians lack an established high end prospect at the moment, but it is a position where they have a lot of youth and upside. There are some players that are coming on quickly, players like Giovanny Urshela, Leonardo Castillo, and Joe Wendle.
The Indians have handed over the keys at third base in Cleveland to young hotshot third base prospect Lonnie Chisenhall, a player that was annually one of the best third base prospects in all of baseball the past several years. There is no telling what happens with Chisenhall in Cleveland, but if he is able to stay healthy and have some success, then the immediate need for third base help from the minors is not there.
