2012 MLB Draft: Day 3 info

June 6, 2012

Okay, two days are in the books, now for the fun (and insanity) that is the final day of the draft. Today the Indians will make selections in the 16th through 40th rounds and then things will end. Note that the draft was cut down to 40 rounds in the last CBA, so there will be no picks from 41-50 like in previous years.
Like we did yesterday, we will be posting all the picks as they happen to the "News" section of the site which is located to the upper left of the site below the site logo. Picks will not be posted to the main page or show on the slider so as to not bog down the main page. For a direct link to the "News" page to see all the picks, go here: http://www.indiansprospectinsider.com/blog/?bt_id=23156&tag_name=Breaking%20News
On that page you can see all of the picks the Indians have made through the first 15 rounds. For premium subscribers, you can also read lots of quotes from the front office, scouts, and get some inside insight and analysis by reading my recap of Day 1 and Day 2.
Today's action will be much more fast and furious than yesterday as there will be no one minute interval between picks like there was up through the 10th round yesterday. This means we will fly through rounds in 5-10 minutes as teams will be making picks right after one another. With this in mind, we will still post the picks as they happen, but please allow time for all of the info to be included with each draft capsule. Draft guru Jeff Ellis will be providing short writeups for all 25 players drafted today, but he is unavailable for most of the afternoon, so his stuff will be added to each player capsule throughout the day today and into tomorrow morning. I'll also be adding comments and info to the capsules throughout the day, so be sure to check back on any of the picks made today for updates.
Like I did for Day 1 and Day 2, I will wrap up the events from Day 3 with a recap tomorrow morning that should include quotes from Brad Grant and quotes from non-Indians personnel, as well as lots of analysis, opinion and scouting info on most if not all of the players selected today. Again, this will be for premium subscribers only.

What is the eligibility of non-drafted players to be signed? Can players who go undrafted be signed for any amount? For example if a top 100 pick goes undrafted, could the Indians approach them and offer them any sum of money?
