2012 Indians Draft: 6/29 Signing update
The 2012 Draft signing deadline is two weeks away from today on July 13th at 5:00 p.m. ET (thank goodness someone was smart enough to push it up from midnight). As I noted yesterday the signings should be pretty quiet over the next 7-10 days as maybe one or two trickle in, and then it should get interesting the last 2-4 days before the deadline to see if players budge on their asking price or if the Indians budge on what that are offering to get the players into the system.
With yesterday’s signing of 35th round pick infielder Nick Hamilton the Indians have now signed 19 of their 40 Draft picks. To date I am also unaware of any undrafted free agent signings, which if true and the Indians do not sign any over the next few weeks, would be the first time in a while they have not gone that route.
