With their 9th round pick in the 2012 MLB Draft the Cleveland Indians selected Jacob Lee, righthanded pitcher from Arkansas State University.
Born: October 25, 1989--Height: 6'1"--Weight: 190--Bats: Right--Throws: Right
Ranks:
Jim's Quick Take: Lee seems to be a typical pick for the Indians with regards to to pitchers. He's not a big guy, but he can locate, and has a decent fastball. He likes to keep the ball low in the zone, and can induce ground balls with regularity. He's really worked on his delivery during his senior season, and throws the fastball, slider, change, and has a new two-seam sinker. Sound familiar?
Jeff Ellis: Jacob Lee is a senior sign out of Arkansas state. He is a solid guy to grab in the 9th round. He is only 6'1" and 190, but has a good build and has never had injury concerns. He throws in the low 90's has a curve which projects to be above average, and average change up. He is a legit starter prospect because of his solid three pitch mix. If you do want to get excited his fastball has touched the mid 90's at some points this year. He might not be as flashy as some of the earlier picks, but he is going to be a guy who can start in A ball, and possible develop into a back of the rotation guy. You can never have too many arms and Lee is a solid.
