In the 39th round of the 2012 MLB Draft the Cleveland Indians have selected right-handed pitcher D.J. Brown out of James Madison University.
Date of birth: 11/28/1990 - Height: 6’6” - Weight: 205 - Bats: Right - Throws: Right
Bio: James Madison player page
Quick take: Brown is tall and slender with towering size at 6’6” and only 205 pounds that gets his fastball up to 92 MPH. He did not pitch this season due to an injury suffered last fall as he tore the labrum in his right shoulder and spent the season rehabbing it.
Jeff Ellis: Dennis Brown fits in with one of the earlier themes from this draft. He is very tall at 6'6" and right handed which seems to be another concentration in this draft. He missed this past season due to injuries. The year before he was voted the best reliever on his team as he averaged nearly a strikeout an inning for James Madison. The Indians must have seen something they liked in him last year and are hoping to sign Brown off injury. I am intrigued by him, I mean just think about it, he was unscouted this year, and the Indians still thought he was worth being drafted.
