2012 Indians 25th round pick: RHP Cameron Cox

In the 25^th round of the 2012 MLB Draft the Cleveland Indians have selected right-handed pitcher Cameron Cox out of Weatherford College (TX).

Date of birth: 5/14/1993 - Height: 6’3” - Weight: 190 - Bats: Left - Throws: Right

Quick take: Cox is a junior college arm that has a three pitch mix of a mid-to-upper 80s fastball with a curveball and changeup. In 11 games this year at Weatherford he went 4-3 with a 3.16 ERA, and in 62.2 innings allowed 50 hits, 20 walks and had 61 strikeouts.

Jeff Ellis: Cameron Cox is going to be another late hard sign as he and Jacob Stone paired to be a dominant pair of freshman for Weatherford Juco.  He does not throw as hard as Stone who was higher rated, but he is widely considered to be more projectable because of his offspeed pitches. He has a solid three pitch mix and his fastball sits in the low 90's/high 80's.  His slider is his best pitch, but his changeup should also project out as average to above average. He is only a freshman and if he keeps up his numbers he could transfer to pretty much any college. He would be draft eligible the next three years if he should choose, so this is why I think it is unlikely he would take the $100K and sign with the Tribe.
