In the 18th round of the 2012 MLB Draft the Cleveland Indians have selected right-handed pitcher Louis Head out of Texas State University.
Date of birth: 4/30/1990 - Height: 6’0” - Weight: 190 - Bats: Right - Throws: Right
Quick take: Head features a three pitch mix of a low 90s fastball that has touched 92 MPH and a slider and curveball.
Jeff Ellis: Luis Head just finished his junior year at Texas State. He played at Texas Tech for his freshman and sophomore years before transferring to Texas State for his junior year. He has worked both as a starter and a reliever but the majority of his appearances have been from the pen. He throws in the low 90’s and also throws a slider and a curve. He is known for having solid command, but is not a huge strikeout guy. He is another guy who looks like the Indians drafted as a pen arm going forward.
