2010 Indians 36th Round Pick: RHP Rye Davis

June 9, 2010
In the 36th round of the 2010 Draft, the Indians have selected RHP Rye Davis out of the University of Western Kentucky.

Height: 6'5" Weight: 250 DOB: 12/11/1988 Bats: Right Throws: Right

Signing Update (June 13): Apparently from what I am hearing Davis turned down the Indians offer and has decided to go back to school.

Bio: Here is his player page at the Western Kentucky site.

Quick Hit: Davis is a draft eligible sophomore after being redshirted in 2009 because of a career threatening eye injury he suffered in the fall of 2008. He had been hit in the face with a ball travelling well over 100 MPH and lost the vision in his right eye and pitched this past season even though his vision had not completely returned in the eye.  He is a big pitcher at 6'5" 250 pounds and brings some arm strength with a fastball that touches 94 MPH, though his slider needs a lot of work.  He could be another Dallas Cawiezell-like pick for the Indians.
