In the 18th round of the 2010 Draft, the Indians have selected OF Chase Burnette out of Georgia Tech.
Height: 6'2" Weight: 195 DOB: 05/20/1988 Bats: Left Throws: Left
Scout's Take: "I really liked him this season. Wish I had gotten him in the draft."
Jeff Ellis: Jonathan Chase Burnette, or as he is typically known as Chase Burnette, is a player who looks like he could contribute to the majors some day most likely as a 4th outfielder. He has average bat and power skills, but his defense and speed are below average. This will cause a problem down the road as the Tribe has been switching to a bigger emphasis on both speed and defense. Still the kid can hit and has hit in the ACC the last two years showing both good average and power along with a solid arm. This season though his defensive issues led him to serve as mostly a DH for the Yellow jackets. He actually reminds me a bit of a pick from last year in Ben Carlson, a player he could quickly be battling for AB
