Around the Farm: July 30, 2014
Duke von Schamann went seven scoreless innings for the RubberDucks. Jesus Aguilar combined a homer, a double, and two walks for the Clippers. Jerrud Sabourin did the same for the Mudcats. Kluber hurls complete game shutout; Indians blank Seattle, 2-0
The Indians traded their ace out of town Wednesday, but it was the Tribe's true ace they held hidden up their sleeve. Corey Kluber is that true ace, and he was paired up against the game's best king in the Mariners starter Felix Hernandez. Even in this poker game, the ace defeated the king and took home the jackpot, as Cleveland blanked Seattle, 2-0 on Kluber's complete game shutout. Join IBI Tribe beat reporter Jim Berdysz as he recaps the game from the ballpark.

Why I like the Justin Masterson trade
The Indians made their first deadline move and it was a big one. They sent right-handed starting pitcher Justin Masterson to the Cardinals for minor league outfielder James Ramsey in a one for one deal. Initial reaction was very mixed for both Indians and Cardinals fans, but the IBI's Jeff Ellis is happy with the Indians return and here is why....

Mudcats Notebook: Peoples finding consistency as a starter
It was a rough week for the Mudcats as the team went just 1-4, but saw a six-game losing streak come to an end. With the losing streak, the team is now tied with first-half division winner Myrtle Beach for the division lead, just one-half game ahead of Winston Salem. The IBI's Zachary Francis chimes in with his weekly notebook and provides the news and notes from the week that was for the Mudcats and also talked with pitcher Michael Peoples about his role this season.

Second Thoughts Game #106: Mariners 5, Indians 2
The Cleveland Indians lost to the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday night by a score of 5-2. The offense continued its inconsistent ways and Trevor Bauer lost his string of four consecutive quality starts and gave up more earned runs (five) than he had in any start in his reassuring 2014 campaign. The IBI's Charlie Adams provides his second thoughts on the game...

Bauer struggles lead to Mariners 5-2 win over Indians
It's always good to take advantage of what's in front of you. Seattle and third baseman Kyle Seager did just that against an Indians team which continues its search for consistency. Back at Progressive Field Tuesday for the first time in over two weeks, the Mariners took down the Tribe, 5-2, in what became Trevor Bauer's worst start of the season. Join IBI Indians beat reporter Jim Berdysz as he recaps the frustrating loss from the ballpark.

After an offseason of change, Cloyd finally feels comfort
Through his first eight appearances of the season, Triple-A Columbus starting pitcher Tyler Cloyd struggled to a 1-3 record with a 6.38 ERA. He led the league with eight home runs given up and opponents were hitting .330 off of him. Since then he has turned things around and the IBI's Michael Rich recently had a chance to catch up with him to see what has changed...

The IBI's Tony Lastoria provides his thoughts on if the Indians should by or sell, what they even have to sell, how Carlos Santana has been the best hitter in the AL for two months and more.
