Draft day is here! The 2014 MLB Draft kicks off tonight and as always the IBI will be all over it providing news and info leading up to the Indians picks and then capsules for every player once they are made. As a lead in to our coverage tonight we have IBI draft guru Jeff Ellis' final mock draft where he mocks out the first THREE rounds in their entirety and the Indians first five picks. The Lake County Captains recorded a 2-3 record last week, including a rainout on June 4. The team partook in some close games last week, including a one-run win and a one-run loss to the South Bend Silver Hawks. The offense remains the worst-hitting team in the Midwest League, but sits third in the home run rankings. The IBI's Stephanie Metzger reviews the Captains' previous week.

A phenomenal home stand ends with a bang as Asdrubal Cabrera becomes the latest walk-off hero with a three-run line drive homer in a late-night duel between the Tribe and Red Sox. Rain couldn't even cool off the blazing Tribe. Tied at 4-4 in the 12th inning, Asdrubal Cabrera connected on a game-winning three-run homer to send the Indians over Boston, 7-4, completing the three-game series sweep. The hit came four hours and 29 minutes after first pitch, and six hours and 57 minutes form Wednesday's original scheduled start time. The Indians won their fifth game in a row and eighth straight at home with a 5-3 win against the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night. Lefty T.J. House pitched well and aside from a hiccup in the middle innings the bullpen locked it down late to preserve the win. For the second straight night, the Indians relied on solid starting pitching and timely hitting to string together another big win in their house Tuesday. Deadlocked in a 3-3 tie against Boston in the seventh, Michael Bourn delievered on what eventually became the game's deciding hit. The Indians are set to activate Carlos Santana on Friday, Nick Swisher is about a week away from a rehab assignment in the minors and Zach McAllister will make his first rehab start in the minors at Low-A Lake County on Wednesday and Rays outfielder Will Myers is expected to miss at least two months. The 2014 MLB Draft is just two days away. This is an exciting and unique draft for the Indians as they don’t have a top 20 pick but they have three first round picks and will make four selections on the first day for the first time in franchise history. As he does before every draft, the IBI's Tony Lastoria had a chance to sit down with Indians Director of Amateur Scouting Brad Grant and have a long, candid conversation about the process with preparing for the draft, managing all of his scouts and the information that comes in, and a bunch of other topics pertaining to the draft itself.
