Sailing with the Clippers: 4/4/13 - 4/10/13
The Columbus Clippers' 2013 season got underway this week with two away series in Indianapolis, IN and Louisville, KY. The Clippers left Indianapolis with a series split, 2-2, and then earned a 2-1 series win over the Louisville Bats to bring their record to 4-3 on the year. The start of the season brings some early glory and forgettable woes for the club, and all of that is recapped and more in the first Clippers notebook of the year.

Second Thoughts: Indians pitchers off to rough start
Wednesday night's rainout may have been the best thing to happen to Terry Francona and company this week. Still reeling from 11-6 and 14-1 losses Monday and Tuesday, last night's rain will hopefully give the team time to rest and regroup. With no game to write about, Michael Goodman shifts his Second Thoughts toward the starting rotation, focusing on the two pitchers he thinks need to step it up if Cleveland is going to right the ship.

Around The Farm: April 10, 2013
There was plenty of rain throughout the region Wednesday night, forcing cancellations for Cleveland, Akron, and Lake County. Luckily for the Mudcats and Clippers -- and Bryson Myles, Francisco Lindor, and Tyler Naquin -- they avoided the weather and got their games in. Join Jim Piascik for a slightly shortened Around The Farm, after the jump.

On-Deck with the Captains: 4/4/13 - 4/9/13
It was a rough first week for the Lake County Captains as they kicked off the season with a 1-4 record, putting them in the basement of the Midwest League. The offense has yet to catch much fire and the pitching has allowed some early leads that the team has struggled to overcome. The IBI's Stephanie Metzger recaps the week that was in the 2013 debut of the Captains notebook....

The season isn't over at the Corner of Carnegie and Ontario
The Cleveland Indians have struggled over the past several games during the first two weeks of the season, which has led many of the teams supporters to begin to call it quits on a season that's just underway. This team is just too good, regardless of their pitching questions, not to win more than it loses. Jim Pete pulls in the gang plank for now, here on his son's birthday edition of Corner of Carnegie and Ontario...

Kluber to start on Wednesday night against Yankees
The Indians have yet to make an official announcement on who will start tonight's game against the Yankees, but right-handed pitcher Corey Kluber is en route to Cleveland and will start the game tonight if it is played. With right-hander Carlos Carrasco’s ejection last night and then tonight’s probable starter right-hander Brett Myers having to be used in long relief, it opened up a need for a starter tonight.

Second Thoughts Game #8: Yankees 14, Indians 1
Carlos Carrasco made his season debut Tuesday night after sitting out 2012 recovering from Tommy John surgery. Needless to say, it was a night he’d like to forget along with the rest of Tribe Nation as Carrasco got rocked by a depleted Yankees lineup for seven runs in three and two thirds innings. The IBI's Jake Dungan has some "second thoughts" on Carrasco's performance and more...

Around The Farm: April 9, 2013
It was a quiet night in the Indians' system as Lake County was rained out, and a number of the other Tribe affiliates struggled in their games. Still, a couple of players left their mark, including promising third baseman Giovanny Urshela and outfielder Delvi Cid. Join the IBI's Arthur Kinney as he recaps their performances and more as he takes you Around the Farm.

Carrasco, Myers struggle as Tribe falls 14-1
It's only April 9, but the Indians may already have one of their all-time low points of this season. Carlos Carrasco and Brett Myers allowed seven runs each Tuesday as the Indians fell 14-1 to the New York Yankees. Join the IBI's Nathan Kemp as he recaps all the action from what ended up being a very difficult night for the Tribe.

Paulino's bat is one not seen in Indians system in some time
It has been some time since the Indians have had a hitter with such promise pass through their lower levels. There have been some good young prospects to pass through Low-A Lake County over the years, but none with the upside and potential to impact a game with the bat like that of shortstop Dorssys Paulino. This is a big growth year for him, and the IBI's Tony Lastoria recently sat down and talked to him about his goals for this season.

Second Thoughts Game #7: Yankees 11, Indians 6
Baseball returned to Cleveland yesterday. Optimism surrounding the Indians was in the air and everywhere to be seen downtown. That is, until Ubaldo Jimenez fell into a familiar set of bad habits, and a familiar face crashed the annual party. The IBI's Kevin Dean breaks down the game and gives some "second thoughts" on what he saw in the Indians home opener loss.

Around the Farm: April 8, 2013
The Indians system was showing off a bit of their offense on Monday, as several Indians prospects showed off their skills with multiple hits. Today's ATF will say hello to the two top non-pitching prospects in the system, as well as the two last #1 picks. The pitching played a part on Monday as well, although the prospects aren't as prominent. Jim Pete takes you around the farm.
