Around The Farm: April 24, 2013
Wednesday night was a cold and wet one in Northeast Ohio, as anyone who braved the weather to catch a ballgame can attest. Despite this, a few players found a way to overcome the weather, including Akron designated hitter Chun Chen, Columbus starting pitcher Trevor Bauer, and others. Jim Piascik was one of those who froze last night (as he watched the Aeros hold on to a 5-4 victory) and he will recap the night in the minor leagues as he takes you Around The Farm.

Indians bats go cold again, fall to Chicago, 3-2
Just as this offensive roller coaster looked to be on its way up, things took another dive for the Indians on Wednesday, as they fell to their division rival Chicago White Sox, 3-2. For the second time in less than two weeks, Tribe bats were silenced by another stellar pitching performance by Chicago left-hander Jose Quintana. The White Sox starter limited the team to just two runs on four hits through five innings, ending Cleveland’s three game winning streak. Join Jim Berdysz as he recaps Wednesday's game, after the jump...

Rodriguez is making big strides in first full season
Most seniors in high school think about summer, college and upcoming graduation parties as they’re getting fitted for their tux for senior prom. Lake County Captains’ first baseman Nelson Rodriguez learned he was drafted by the Cleveland Indians during his tux fitting at Men’s Warehouse. Since being drafted and signing, he has been one of the most encouraging stories with the strides he has made to date.

Running outta starters at the Corner of Carnegie and Ontario
The Indians have issued tryouts to the staff of Indians Baseball Insider, looking for the next starter to fill in a spot in the Tribe rotation. Yeah, it's nearly that bad, as Corey Kluber enters the fray for the Indians as the eighth starter to pitch for the Tribe in 2013. It's April 24th. Is there any hope at the Corner of Carnegie and Ontario? Can the Indians overcome this major weakness to do any damage?

Coach's Corner '13: Carolina manager Dave Wallace
Coach's Corner returns to the IBI today for the 2013 season, and is a piece where Tony sits down with a coach in the Indians minor league system and really breaks down and discusses several players on the roster. He recently had a chance to sit down with High-A Carolina manager Dave Wallace and they talked in detail about the transition that Tony Wolters is making to catcher, his timeline, what he has impressed with so far, and what his early challenges are with the change. They also talked about the impressive work ethic of Francisco Lindor, the rapid growth of Cody Anderson, the showing to date of Tyler Naquin, the potential of Shawn Morimando, the pitching role changes for Michael Goodnight and Jordan Cooper, and more.

Launching Off With The Aeros: 4/16/13 – 4/22/13
The Aeros continued to stay at the bottom of the Eastern League over the past week as they lost four of seven and fell to 6-12. The youth and inexperience that makes the team exciting to watch from a prospect standpoint is the culprit for the losing, as most of the players are at the Double-A level for the first time. There were still plenty of noteworthy performances, however, especially a competition between two dueling aces. For all that and more, join Jim Piascik as he Launches Off With The Aeros.

The State of the Rotation
The Tribe has been shut out some nights and scored 19 runs the next. It may be just a team trying to find its groove as much of the new additions to the roster are adjusting to the change of scenery. However, the starting rotation, which already came into the season with several question marks, is already in a semi-critical state. The IBI's Jake Dungan takes a look at the state of the Indians rotation...

Second Thoughts Game #18: Indians 3, White Sox 2
Justin Masterson has been sensational so far this season, and while he was not on his A-game last night he still battled and worked his way through seven innings and hung around just long enough to earn the win. Asdrubal Cabrera came through with a big two-run single in the eighth inning to put the Indians up 3-2 and the Bullpen Mafia did the rest to preserve a much needed Tribe win against a division rival. The IBI's Kevin Dean shares his "second thoughts" on the game...

Around the Farm: April 22, 2013
Austin Adams made his second appearance since an injury and surgery kept him out of the entire 2012 season. Bryce Stowell continued his resurgence in Akron's bullpen, but is it too little, too late? Matt Langwell continued to dominate in his waltz through the Indians system, and Preston Guilmet followed suit. Join Jim Pete as he tours the Indians minor league system in IBI's nightly staple, Around the Farm.

Cabrera's two-run single beats White Sox, 3-2
Asdrubal Cabrera singled home two runs in the top of the eighth inning off Chicago reliever Matt Thornton as the Cleveland Indians beat the White Sox 3-2 in the opener of a three-game series. The win was the Indians third-straight, and kept the Indians ahead of the White Sox in the standings. Justin Masterson went seven innings, and rebounded from his only loss of the season to win his league-leading fourth game of the season.

McDade making a smooth transition to Indians organization
With nearly five months in the Indians organization under his belt, first baseman Mike McDade is finding comfort in his new surroundings. He spent all of 2012 in the Blue Jays farm system, but was put on waivers this past offseason and the Indians picked him up. The IBI's Ethan Day recently sat down to talk to him and gives the details how his adjustment is going with his new organization.
