Second Thoughts Game #20: Royals 3, Indians 2
They say pitching is the key to winning in baseball. But there also is another key saying that should go along with that: you can’t win if you can’t score. This was exactly the case again for the Cleveland Indians on Saturday night as they fell to the first place Kansas City Royals, 3-2. The IBI's Jim Berdysz shares his second thoughts on the game...

Around the Farm: April 27, 2013
After pulling his hamstring early this season, LeVon Washington is now healthy, and it showed Saturday. The outfielder recorded five hits in an impressive performance for the Lake County Captains. Also, Francisco Lindor continued his great start as he enjoyed a three-hit performance for the Mudcats. Join the IBI's Steve Orbanek as he recaps these performances and more as he takes you Around the Farm.

Second Thoughts Game #20: Rain out edition
Will the Indians ever play baseball again? It certainly feels like the Tribe has been in Mother Nature’s doghouse wherever they go this season as they now have four postponements and four games to make up. Fortunately, the team will still be able to get in all four games this weekend as they’ll make up Friday’s series opener on Sunday in a day-night doubleheader. The IBI's Jake Dungan touches on some topics surrounding the team in this rained out edition of Second Thoughts.

Around the Farm: April 26, 2013
While the big league team was rained out, the Indians took three out of four games in the minor league circuit on Friday night. The two biggest highlights of the night came from Columbus where starter T.J. House was impressive in his Triple-A debut and Yan Gomes settled back into his everyday catching duties and raked.

Wolters hopeful position switch to catcher was right choice
The 2013 baseball season is already now into its fourth week. While players at various levels of the Cleveland Indians farm system are starting to settle in, Tony Wolters is just now beginning his full-time transition from the middle infield to the catching position. The IBI's Tony Lastoria recently sat down with Wolters to discuss his move to catcher.

Orbiting Cleveland: Gauging the 25-man roster
The Indians' record sits at 8-11, and the team has still been unable to get on a consistent roll. The starting pitching staff has been up-and-down, and the team's offense has unfortunately been maddeningly inconsistent. Could it be possible that the team's 25-man roster needs some tweaking? And are there any tweaks that could actually lead to an improved team? Join the IBI's Steve Orbanek as he ponders that thought in this week's edition of Orbiting Cleveland.

Call to the Bullpen: Episode 1.2
IBI contributors Jake, Mike and Hayden are back for the third weekly episode of Call To The Bullpen!
This week, the guys discuss the hot start by Mark Reynolds and how he was somehow snubbed from the Home Run Derby Ballot. They'll also talk about the state of the starting rotation, including thoughts on veteran starter Brett Myers going down with injury.
On the MLB side of things, there's...

Second Thoughts: The Dark Cloud Over Carlos Carrasco
After taking a line drive off his elbow in a start last night for Columbus, Carlos Carrasco appears to have established a rather morbid method for evading the suspensions Major League Baseball tries to impose upon him. At press time, the extent of Carrasco’s latest injury remained unknown, but if initial reports are any indication, another prolonged stint on the disabled list could be in the cards. If so, it’s just the latest chapter it what has become an increasingly bizarre pro career for the 26 year-old right-hander from Venezuela. Join Andrew Clayman as he gives his off-day Second Thoughts about Carrasco.

Around The Farm: April 25, 2013
It's always good to see your first round picks leading the way down on the farm. Tyler Naquin and Francisco Lindor played pivotal roles in leading the Carolina Mudcats Thursday, flashing the potential that makes them both top prospects in the organization. You never want to see players hurt, however, and Cleveland saw two of their better pitchers injured in Columbus. To help make sense of all that went on, join Andrew Zajac, as he goes Around The Farm...

Carrasco injured and taken to hospital
Triple-A Columbus right-handed pitcher Carlos Carrasco was struck on his right elbow by a line drive off the bat of Scranton/Wilkes-Barre second baseman Corban Joseph and was removed from the game in the fifth inning of action on Thursday night. He has been taken to an area hospital for further evaluation, likely to get x-rays on his arm/elbow.

Sailing with the Clippers: 4/18/13 - 4/24/13

Through 20 games the Clippers are in third place in their division and 3.5 games behind the division-leading Indians of Indianapolis. The IBI's Cameron Weimer takes us "sailing" to get us caught up on the week that was in the weekly Clippers notebook...

Minor Happenings: Chen is showing the power at Akron
In this week’s second edition of Minor Happenings, Tony takes a look at the hot start that Akron first baseman Chun Chen is off to, what has changed with his approach, and when he may get to Columbus (or Cleveland). He also has a ton of comments from the front office regarding the Columbus roster on things such as the presence of so many six-year free agents as well as the plans for Carlos Carrasco and others. Finally, he touches on the return of Austin Adams and Trey Haley, the release of Delvi Cid and who may be replacing him, the blistering bat of Jerrud Sabourin, the potential of Dylan Baker and much more.

Second Thoughts Game #19: White Sox 3, Indians 2
Coming off three straight wins to climb back to 8-10, the Indians needed to solve Jorge Quintana to leave Chicago with a rain-shortened series sweep. Two weeks ago, Quintana pitched seven innings of one-hit baseball against the Indians, and he was facing a lineup without Michael Bourn, Carlos Santana, and Asdrubal Cabrera during this game. From the start, this looked like a tough game to win. Join Michael Goodman as he gives his Second Thoughts on Wednesday's loss.
